The Freshers Get-Together 2026, organised by the second-year BMS and BAF students, was held on 25 July 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Mondini Hall, Don Bosco College. Around 200 first-year students participated, with Ms Anoushka, Ms Melita, and Ms Shamim present as faculty members.

The programme included ice-breaking activities, an action song, “Find Your Outlaw,” Bounty Card challenges, spot prizes, “Sheriff Says,” and a cowboy-themed dialogue challenge. These activities encouraged interaction, teamwork, creativity, and communication among the students.

The event concluded with a lively jam session involving the freshers, seniors, and volunteers. The programme successfully promoted friendship, student interaction, teamwork, and a sense of belonging among the new students..

The session was conducted by Prof. Rahul Jaiswal, Tax Practitioner and Advisor, Satish Pradhan Dnyanasadhana College, Thane.

The workshop covered PAN, ITR forms, Old and New Tax Regimes, AIS, Form 26AS, filing deadlines, and penalties. A live demonstration using a dummy taxpayer profile helped students understand income reporting, deductions, portal navigation, and e-filing procedures.

The session concluded with a Q&A, enabling students to clarify practical tax-filing issues. The workshop enhanced students’ practical knowledge and prepared them for professional roles in accounting, finance, and auditing.

The session was conducted by Prof. Elenka Rebello under the guidance of faculty-in-charge Dr. Preeta Rejoy.

The seminar focused on building confidence, improving communication skills, and overcoming the fear of public speaking. Prof. Rebello discussed glossophobia and shared practical techniques such as preparation, positive visualisation, and avoiding negative self-talk. The session concluded with a guided meditation to promote relaxation and mental clarity.

The seminar received positive feedback from students and provided them with practical tools to improve their public speaking and overall personality development.

Ltd., organised a workshop titled “The Art of Mutual Fund Performance Evaluation” at the DBC Seminar Hall. The three-and-a-half-hour session was conducted by CA Vivek Parakh and was attended by students from various departments.

The workshop covered BSE, Demat accounts, market cycles, mutual fund structures, AMCs, active and passive funds, index funds, and open- and close-ended schemes. Students also learned about lump-sum investments, SIPs, rolling returns, benchmark comparisons, and risk assessment using tools such as Tickertape. The session also compared Mutual Funds, ETFs, and BEES.

The interactive workshop successfully connected theoretical concepts with practical investment knowledge and helped students develop skills in financial decision-making, risk management, and disciplined investing.

The seminar covered financial literacy, money management, stock and commodity markets, hedging, arbitrage, call and put options, spot and forward rates, and futures contracts. Students were also introduced to financial planning through NISM calculators and educated about common investment scams and investor protection measures.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks and a token of appreciation presented to the resource person by Dr. Preeta Rejoy, HOD of the BAF Department. The seminar enhanced students’ financial awareness and encouraged informed and responsible investment decisions.

Organised by the Department of Accounting and Finance (BAF), the celebration was attended by 321 students and faculty members from the HS, BMS, BAF, and BAMMC departments.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. Mylin Noronha, Assistant Director of DBC and Administrator of DBCL. BAF students animated the liturgy through the readings and choir. In his homily, Fr. Mylin reflected on Mary as a model of faith, humility, comfort, and guidance, encouraging students to seek her intercession in their academic and personal lives.

The celebration concluded with a note of gratitude and reinforced the values of faith, humility, and unity within the college community.

The seminar focused on the importance of emotional intelligence in students’ personal, academic, and social lives. Key topics included the biology of emotions, Daniel Goleman’s five components of Emotional Intelligence—self-awareness, self-management, motivation, empathy, and social skills—and the Big Five Personality Traits (OCEAN). Students were also introduced to the ABCDE model for managing stress and negative emotions.

Through interactive discussions and activities, students learned to understand their emotions and respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively. The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks and contributed to the students’ emotional awareness and holistic development.

The Department of BAF, Don Bosco College, Kurla, organised a three-day residential camp from 24 to 26 July 2025 at Don Bosco Yuva Sanstha, Mote Vengaon, Karjat, Raigad. The camp was attended by 57 students and was themed “Youth for Leadership, Adventure, and Social Change.”

The camp included leadership activities, adventure-based learning, workshops, trekking, and cultural activities aimed at developing teamwork, communication, decision-making, leadership, and social responsibility. A special session by Fr. Anthony Pinto on “Green Footprint” focused on environmental awareness and sustainable living.

The camp provided students with opportunities for experiential learning, personal growth, and collaboration. It strengthened their confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and team spirit while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging.

A special session by Fr. Anthony Pinto on “Green Footprint” focused on environmental awareness and sustainable living.

The camp provided students with opportunities for experiential learning, personal growth, and collaboration. It strengthened their confidence, resilience, leadership skills, and team spirit while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and belonging.

On 30 June 2025, the Department of Accounting & Finance, Don Bosco College, organised a guest lecture titled “Decoding the Financial Statement” at the Seminar Hall, DBCL, in collaboration with GGC’s Practical Training Academy Pvt. Ltd. The session was attended by 56 T.Y. BAF students and conducted by CA Sangram Karwatka.

The lecture focused on practical aspects of financial statement analysis, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, financial ratios, analysis techniques, and common financial red flags. Practical examples and case-based discussions helped students connect classroom concepts with real-world financial and business applications.

The interactive session encouraged active student participation through discussions and a Q&A segment. The lecture enhanced students’ understanding of financial statements and their application in taxation and business decision-making.

On 10 June 2025, the Department of Accounting and Finance (BAF), in collaboration with the NSS Unit of Don Bosco College, organised a Bridge Course titled “Prevention of Child Abuse: POCSO Act Awareness” at the DBC Seminar Hall. The session was conducted by Adv. Chirag Chandan and attended by 26 students.

The session focused on child protection laws and key provisions of the POCSO Act, 2012, including Sections 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14. The resource person explained different offences, aggravated offences, mandatory reporting, and the responsibilities of individuals in positions of trust.

Through visual aids and an interactive Q&A session, students gained greater awareness of child protection laws and their practical application. The programme successfully promoted legal literacy, responsible citizenship, and awareness of child safety.

The seminar focused on understanding students’ motivation, learning preferences, personality, and behavioural patterns and their influence on academic performance. Through interactive activities, students developed greater self-awareness and learned how to align their learning styles with their strengths and priorities for effective studying.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks and a token of appreciation presented to Dr. Royal D’Souza. The seminar provided students with practical insights for improving their learning approaches and academic performance.
