On 8th March, Don Bosco College, Kurla, celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm. Organized by the Women Development Cell, the event saw active participation from students, faculty, and staff. To honor the occasion, cards and flowers were distributed to all teaching and non-teaching staff as a token of appreciation. A powerful short film titled ‘Astitva’ was screened, focusing on women’s empowerment and identity. The celebration was warmly received, promoting a sense of unity, respect, and inclusivity. It served as a meaningful reminder of the vital role women play and the importance of acknowledging their contributions in all spheres.

STARTOPIA


The Department of Management and Finance successfully organized Startopia: Ignite, Inspire, Innovate on March 1st, 2025. The event brought together students from Finance, Marketing, and HR across all academic years. It promoted interdisciplinary teamwork, real-world problem-solving, and innovative thinking. Startopia served as a platform to bridge academic theory and practical application through engaging activities and case studies. Students explored business challenges, worked collaboratively, and proposed strategic solutions, preparing them for future professional roles. The event fostered creativity, communication, and leadership, empowering participants to think critically and work cohesively in a dynamic business environment. It was a vibrant and impactful initiative.

MONSOON SUPER LEAGUE

MONSOON SUPER LEAGUE


The Monsoon Super League (MSL) 2024 was held at Don Bosco College, Kurla, from August 2 to 28, featuring indoor, outdoor, and e-sports events. With 200+ participants across 16 teams, the league promoted athleticism, teamwork, and inter-batch bonding. Events included football, cricket, basketball, chess, carrom, table tennis, BGMI, and PES. Pre-event auctions and PR campaigns ensured high engagement. Bosco Elites emerged as the overall winners, followed by Bosco Predators and Bosco Babies. The event successfully enhanced planning, organizational skills, and student interaction, creating a memorable and high-energy experience despite monsoon challenges. Total amount collected through registrations was ₹7,235.

MINDFLIX ORIGINALS

MINDFLIX ORIGINALS


Don Bosco Learning and Development Centre (DBLDC), Kurla, organized the Institutional Level Ideation Competition ‘Mindflix Originals’ on 16 August 2024 as part of the National Level Entrepreneurship and Innovation Competition by DBHEI and FiiRE. The event saw active participation from DBIT and DBC students, with 23 ideas presented across Science and Arts/Commerce/Management categories. Prior to the event, an entrepreneurship session by Mr. Ashok Jagatia enriched students’ understanding. Winners received cash prizes and certificates, while others earned participation certificates. The event successfully fostered creativity and innovation, and winners now prepare to compete in the upcoming Regional Level Ideation Competition.

The Women Development Cell of Don Bosco College, Kurla, organized a creative Jewellery and Crochet Making event on 14th January 2025 at 12:00 pm. Students from various disciplines participated, individually or in groups, showcasing their artistic flair through unique handmade pieces. The event buzzed with enthusiasm and creativity. Judges appreciated the talent on display and felicitated the winners with certificates. The event not only encouraged self-expression and innovation but also promoted teamwork and inclusivity. It was a resounding success, reflecting the Cell’s ongoing commitment to empowering women and building a vibrant, supportive campus community.

SAY NO TO RAGGING


Don Bosco College, Kurla organized a poster-making event during Anti-Ragging Week, led by the Bosco Literary and Cultural Club (BLCC). The event aimed to raise awareness on anti-ragging, gender sensitization, POSH, bullying prevention, and creating a safe campus. Participants were asked to create original posters reflecting their views on these issues. Judged by Prof. Melita Rego and Mr. Vishal Sawakare, seven students showcased creative, meaningful artwork. Each participant explained their poster and shared insights on ragging and campus safety. Ms. Pranjal (SYBAF) secured first place, followed by Ms. Valencia (SYBMS C), making the event both impactful and memorable.

POOKALAM COMPETITION


On 12th September 2024, the Green Alliance and BLCC Clubs of the BMS & BAF Department hosted a vibrant Pookalam competition to celebrate Onam and promote eco-friendly creativity. Held from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM, the event saw enthusiastic participation from FY, SY, and TY teams, who crafted intricate floral designs using natural, biodegradable materials. Judged on design, creativity, color use, and intricacy, the competition showcased cultural appreciation and environmental responsibility. DON BOSCO DAY

DON BOSCO DAY


Don Bosco Day was celebrated on 27th September 2024 by first-year BMS and BAF students, guided by the BLCC core team. A play featuring seven scenes depicted key moments from Don Bosco's life, from his humble beginnings to his enduring legacy. Scriptwriting began in August, followed by auditions, role assignments, and extensive rehearsals throughout September. Each scene portrayed Don Bosco’s compassion, faith, and mission to uplift youth. Despite time constraints, the cast delivered a moving performance with dedication and teamwork. The final scene featured Salesian priests reflecting on Don Bosco’s influence, leaving the audience inspired by his lasting impact.

OPEN MIC COMPETITION


The Bosco Literary and Cultural Club hosted a vibrant Open Mic Competition on 25th November 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall. Centered on the theme “Echoes of Expression: Stories That Inspire,” the event featured stand-up comedy, poetry, shayari, singing, and storytelling. Judges Dr. Anoushka Mirgnani and Prof. Sita Laxmi were warmly welcomed and felicitated with eco-friendly gifts. Participants captivated the audience with heartfelt and humorous performances. Winners included Steve Rocha (First), Sujal Wagh (Second), and Nishreen Badshah (Third). The event ended with a vote of thanks, celebrating a successful evening of creativity, expression, and community engagement.

The Don Bosco Green Alliance conducted a Book Aid Program to offer BMS and BAF students affordable academic books while promoting sustainability through reuse. Held from 1st to 15th June 2024, the program enabled alumni to sell books to current students at 50% of the original price.


Students registered via a Google Form shared in official WhatsApp groups, indicating whether they wanted to buy or sell. Based on their responses, buyers and sellers were matched, and details were exchanged through WhatsApp.

The initiative encouraged the “Reduce, Reuse & Recycle” approach, helping minimize paper waste and fostering eco-friendly habits among students.

E-waste Drive


The Don Bosco Green Alliance, in collaboration with the Department of Management and Finance, organized an E-waste Collection Drive at Don Bosco College to promote eco-friendly disposal of electronics. Students, faculty, and staff participated actively, collecting 29.7 kg of items like phones, chargers, cables, and batteries.

All waste was sorted and handed over to certified recyclers for safe processing. The drive also raised awareness about the environmental risks of improper E-waste disposal and encouraged sustainable habits.

This initiative reflected the college's commitment to environmental responsibility and showed how collective action can drive positive change.

Donation drive

Donation drive


The Don Bosco Green Alliance Club, in collaboration with the NSS Unit, organized a Donation Drive from 3rd to 7th December 2024. The initiative aimed to promote generosity, sustainability, and the importance of sharing resources within communities. Around 4–5 boxes of donations were collected, including clothes for men, women, and children, as well as notebooks, pens, pencils, and crayons. Items were carefully sorted to ensure maximum utility.

NSS volunteers transported the donations to Walvanda, Palghar, where they were distributed to schoolchildren and local families who hosted the team for meals. The drive was a meaningful act of gratitude and service, successfully meeting its goals of community outreach and environmental awareness. This collaboration highlighted the impact of collective action and helped instill values of empathy, responsibility, and sustainability among the participants.

The Don Bosco Green Alliance unit conducted a Crib Making for BMS & BAF department in collaboration with the Nss unit on 4th floor with the motive of spreading the message of a “Sustainable Bethlehem”  and how has it had an out bursting. impact on the environment and how there are still hopes of providing your area with a eco-friendly environment and to save the environment by using sustainable resources. The students of BMS & BAF department along with the Don Bosco Green Alliance team came together and provided inputs by using their creativity and innovative mindset for implementing the messages which was set by the DBC Green


Alliance. This activity proved to be a big contribution towards a sustainable tomorrow and has led a path towards awareness about how  we can keep our environment and surroundings healthy and pollution free which contributes to our environment among the students.
